Theme Of Teamwork And Hard Work

The theme seen throughout chapters 1-4 is, teamwork and hard work make the dream work. An example of this theme is when Candy talks to George about partaking in George’s dream of owning his own land. In chapter three Candy states, “S’pose I went in with you guys. That’s 350 bucks I’d put in. I ain't much good but I could cook and tend the chickens and hoe the garden some” (59). From this, Candy shows that teamwork makes the dream work because Candy discusses working together with Lennie and George as a trio to support one big dream. Lennie and George traveling and working together provide another example of why teamwork and hard work make the dream work, this is shown on page 60.
