In the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare addresses the topic of sleep. More specifically, Shakespeare implies that people can get ambushed in their sleep. In Act one, scene seven, Macbeth and his wife are planning to murder King Duncan in his sleep and frame his servants for the murder while they sleep ( 1.7.60-72). In other words, the Macbeths set up the murder in the murder in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping so that they don’t get caught. Duncan was taken by surprise because he thought he was safe in a friend’s home. The soldiers were also surprised by Macbeth’s ambush because they thought they were celebrating in a safe environment.
