In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare the main characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, exude high levels of selfishness and hunger for power. Due to their burning desire for power they commit heinous crimes in order to accomplish their goal. This, in turn, causes complete and utter chaos in their life and in the kingdom of Cawdor. In the end many people must die in order for the kingdom to restored to its original form. Their obsession over power causes fatal consequences for themselves, their marriage, and most importantly their country.

Macbeth always wanted to be king, but he never thought about committing crimes to become king. Lady Macbeth was always greedy and selfish so it was no surprise when she called on to evil spirits “... that …show more content…
