“What happens when perfection isn't good enough?" this quote by Scott Westerfield really shows a big theme in "Fahrenheit 451" which is dissatisfaction and depression. you would think that in a world where all you do is watch tv all day and not have to read anything would be the perfect life. but if when you read the novel all you see is dissatisfaction and depression everywhere within the whole story. their are three examples that show that theme of dissatisfaction, which is all the suicide, the way everyone drives really fast and the way how every one is expressionless.

in the novel the society drives really fast down streets and even try to run over animals or even human beings to have fun. Since driving really fast seems to make people happy, the "government" made it the law that you must drive super fast and are not allowed to go at a normal speed like we do in real life
Since the entertainment in the novels causes the theme of depression, you can notice as you read that everyone in the society is very bland. No one in the society talks to each other so you are left with an expressionless society where their is no individuality. since the society has no skills that you do and all the jobs that you have in this society tell you exactly what to do so no one is different which causes everyone to be expressionless since they all do the same thing and their is no difference in their world.
