The theme of Sacrifices between the families is portrayed in the texts. Written text ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ by Jodi Picoult and short story ‘The Gift of the Magi’ by O’ Henry. Media text ‘Mamma Mia’ directed by Phyllida Lloyd and Script ‘Billy Elliot’ by Stephen Daldry. These texts introduce a range of sacrifice that can occur in family relationship; married couple, mother and child, father and child and between siblings. All of these texts are connected sacrificing their most valuable.

In this text the sacrifice the father makes for his son is shown. Throughout the text, it portrays the changes in the family’s feeling towards the Billy passion of dancing. And changes show the sacrifices the family makes to support Billy’s decision. “All right for your Nana, for girls. No, not for lads, Billy. Lads do football... or boxing... or wrestling. Not friggin' ballet” However, after the dad sees Billy dancing, he realizes Billy passion for Ballet and the only way for Billy to live a better life than him so he Support Billy financially and mentally.. So he saves his money for Billy to go to London to follow his dream. “I think I’m scared, Dad.”, “That’s ok son. We all are scared”. The sacrifice the family made for Billy changed the visible future of Billy coal mining in the future, just like his dad and his brother to invisible, Ballet dancer in the future. For Billy’s success the family fights with the dark and hard life. Strong love results sacrifice and this turned impossible to possible.
