In France romance is huge, growing up we are taught that France is the most romantic country in the world. It’s been driven into our minds constantly and it the first thing that comes to mind when we hear the word romance. Considering Casablanca was written there, we know that the film will be focusing on romance and love. The war plays a big part in the movie and also how we portray the storyline and also the decisions made by the characters. What could be more romantic than a couple broken up by the war only for them to be reunited in the future? The answer is nothing. This is arguably the most desirable act of romance possible. Both Rick and Ilsa mostly got what they wanted in the end. So it shows us that if we want to be successful in life, then we need romance and to also put in the effort.
