Pride, revenge, and fear are all good when they don't affect you, when you're the one with no fear, when you're the one seeking revenge, and when pride has a positive effect on you. But In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller everything is the complete opposite. pride, revenge, and fear doesn't work in everyone's favor. Salem doesn't stand up to these themes and let them get the best of them. The themes lead Salem to a destructive end.
Here is how these themes led Salem and could lead us to a destructive end. In act 4 Proctor had so much pride he wouldn't sign the court papers because he knew it would ruin his name. Proctor couldn't stand to see his name be ruined by something he knew was a lie. Proctor let the pride get the best of him
