A theme by definition is a universal moral or message that an author embeds into a work of literature in order to teach the reader a specific lesson. Theme’s open up a whole new purpose for writing in that they convey a valuable life lesson that if taken to heart will help the reader in their life. Most plays are embedded with themes, especially Greek plays this is no exception for Antigone. Antigone has an immense amount of themes that when discovered by the reader they uncover a valuable lesson. A strong theme found throughout Antigone was that power has the power to corrupt.
