THE DEFINING THEME OF OUR AGE The twenty first century, or our age, is one of the first ages to come close the “future” of mankind, so far at least. Our inventions pushing us into the new age and pushing out the block phones and the tiny televisions of the 1900’s. Creating a century only to be known as the Worry age. Our children in this century are so used to the easy “hands-on” way of electronics. Not only are they able to find out the density of a certain object within seconds, but they can keep a conversation going without talking, and achieving 40 WPM (words per minute) with their thumbs. The bullying going on inside schools because children can’t hold back their hunger for fatty products that have absolutely no protein just fat. The constant judging because one person doesn’t wear the same things as everyone else, or they don’t have toned legs and a big butt. The way children talk to each other in racial slurs or even unneeded language at the age of just 10 or 12. THe children of this age are brainwashed and have no idea of it, they have no idea about how the tiny screen that they type on is being watched, or how the subliminal messages in their favorite kids shows have meaning they haven’t grown up to know about yet. Not only are our children deciding that long dark curly hair, with clumps of makeup, and private parts being shown are appropriate and what “everyone should look like”, but they think that drugs and alcohol at the age of 13 is okay for their developing brains. It is so easy to pretend to be someone you are not. A new account, and you can bully someone to their death, or be the one who kills them. The internet is not secure, it will never be. With so many ways to pretend to be a 17 year old guy with a soccer haircut and abs, when you are a 50 year old man who is a predator. It is so easy to hack into accounts and post untrue things about someone, breaking them to the point of suicide. So many people praising this world for the convenience of the internet not realising that every 40 seconds someone dies from suicide. Our world is not perfect, and neither are the people within it. The internet is a web of lies, that can lead to a spiral of abuse and a burial six feet under ground. The hard truth is that the technology doesn’t help anyone. It ruins lives, thoughts, opinions, and friendships. The internet can ruin the knowledge with how easy it is to cheat on an online test. Not only is it easy but it can go undetected. So many children who are brainwashed to think it is okay to have sex at 16. So many moms with kids, when they are in high school still. The fact is that no one is safe from the thoughts of others, and no child is safe from the brainwashed
