After Otto was sentenced fifteen years of hard labor in North Korea, he was released back to America after 17 months due to being in a coma with brain damage and said to be in a “unresponsive wakefulness”, and died a week after being back with his family. When Beowulf, defeats Grendel's mother with her sword made by giants, can be compared to Otto Warmbier being sent back to America to have his parents presents with him before he passed away, and left with a feeling of being content with his family. Although Otto’s story and Beowulf’s story ended with different outcomes, both Otto and the people Beowulf was protecting are both set with ease to not have to worry about a monster being with them any
