Mercy- compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. Mercy is a common theme between the following stories: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, To Kill a Mockingbird, Schindler's List, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and The Merchant of Venice. Being a Merciful person is so important in all life cause all problems can be solved if someone shows mercy.

So the black guy's name is Tom Robinson and the story takes place in the 1930’s back when the Jim Crow laws were in place and takes place in Maycomb, Alabama. So after Tom Robinson is accused of rape the Judge shows him mercy by signing him a good lawyer named Atticus Finch he has 2 kids named Jem and Scout. Atticus is not racist like most other people from maycomb so the judge shows Tom Robinson mercy by assigning him a good Lawyer that is going to do anything in his power to help him out. “If you shouldn’t be defendin‘ him, then why are you doin’ it?’asked scout, ‘For a number of reasons,” said Atticus. “The main one is, if I didn’t I couldn’t hold up my head in town, I couldn’t represent this county in the legislature, I couldn’t even tell you or Jem not to do something again.’’ said Atticus. If anyone at that camp would have showed mercy and not killed the children than the boys would still be alive but no they just had to kill all children because they were the biggest threat to the master race's
