In the short story A&P John Updike expresses the theme of maturity by describing

Sammy action and decision in losing his job as a result of three girls violating store policy by

wearing bathing suit. Sammy a nineteen years boy was attracted to the girl's beauty as they

walked in the store wearing bathing suit. He become less responsible in taking care of his work

in becoming more attracted to their physical appearances.
