Curley’s Wife feels alone because she is the only woman on the farm, so she ill-advisedly lets her guard down in order to try and make a new friend, which enables her death. Crooks too feels loneliness as he is the only black man on the farm and is abused for it. He searches for company in Lennie and unwisely gets his hopes up. Lastly, Lennie’s naive nature leads him to rely on George too heavily, which clouds his judgement further and makes him a killer. All in all, friendship is a wonderful state, but can cause harm to those who overly seek
