This quotes is an accurate depiction of how selfish and glorified Dr. Frankenstein felt about his discovery and that fact that he could be praised from people for being able to do something so amazing. His glorification of himself isolates him from the rest of the “normal” people in the world making himself feel more powerful.
That, “Dreary night of November,” was the beginning of Dr.Frankenstein's isolation. And after the night where he created the monster he fell sick mentally and psychically. "Every night I was oppressed by a slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree; the fall of a leaf startled me, and I shunned my fellow creatures as if I had been guilty of a crime." (Chapter 4) After creating the monster he has realized what kind disaster he has just made and the consequences that come with it.
