The conflict in the Central African Republic caused the children to lose their innocence during their childhood. An example of the loss of innocence is how children are given guns at age 14 and are used by adults to fight in their conflicts with other neighborhoods. At a young age, being introduced to death and violence, causes childhood to be brought to a halt. Specifically, from “A Gun In My Hand” Charly is introduced to violence as rebels arrived and murdered his father.
