Theme Of Ignorance In Animal Farm

In Animal Farm chapter 7 the theme of people’s ignorance contributing to their political and social oppression is enunciated plenty of times throughout the novel. When one of the dogs leaped towards Boxer and he managed to pin the canine, Boxer “ Looked at Napoleon to know whether he should crush the dog or let it go”( Orwell 58). This denotes that even though Boxer can crush the dog, which represents the army, he is to ignorant to realize it and preferably asks
Napoleon for directions. This also symbolizes that the middle class is strong enough to revolt against the upper class. After witnessing Boxer pinning the canine to the floor he reacts by “ suddenly appeared to change countenance, and sharply ordered Boxer to let the dog go”
