In Crake’s viewpoint, the Crakers have immortality (303). “Immortality said Crake, it is concept”(303). [j13] He believes that they have immortality[j14] , they are modified to only live to the age of thirty and then they die without getting ill (303). Crake could have made the Crakers to suffer when dying or to not have the UV resistant skin application. It wasn’t a requirement for Crake to add these accommodations to the Crakers, including the physical attributes. This shows that Crake’s motive of making the Crakers is to better society as well to eliminate their pain of being afraid of dying. Since they will die suddenly without an illness, Crake believes they will have no pain. It’s clear to state that Crake cares about their well being because he has made them with circumstances that help them be comfortable. Many would say that it being human is automatically define that they have humanity. Yet, in Atwood’s novel it is clear that is there actions of the Jimmy and Crake that define humanity not just because they are human. Crake’s different perspective on humanity, his additions to to accommodate the Craker’s needs and guidance to help humanity are indeed spotlighted while Jimmy continuous promiscuous actions show that his selfishness prevails over his humanity. Overall, Atwood’s novel shows us that despite the actions there will always be a story behind it and it is up to us to believe it or
