This movie expresses many aspects of human emotion and human nature, some more outright than others. One of the scenes that shows this the most is when the prosecutor and doctor are talking about the woman who killed herself soon after the birth of her child. The more they talk, the more the prosecutor reveals about the woman and her story. By the end of the movie, you find out the woman was really his wife, and he had cheated on her shortly before her death. This shows two basic actions of human nature. We were able to see some of the dress of the men and woman, as well as some of the grooming habits of some of the men as far as facial hair. We are also able to see how the hierarchy affected how people communicated with each other. While the prosecutor and the doctor were able to have informal conversation with each other, the prosecutor was very strict and formal with the men that were the diggers, bossing them around and treating them badly. We were able to see how some of the men acted around woman, specifically with the scene with the mayor’s daughter. Not a single one of the men tried to speak to her, and she was very meek and shy while she was serving them tea.
