John Proctor is not a perfect man throughout the play. He has commit a mistake that made him a “bad” person and made his record and name substandard. He had affair with Abigail which made him a unperfect person. He was definitely had knowledge of the reaction of is action. After committing his mistake, he kicked her out of his house and made her want him more. “She is blackening my name in the village! She is telling lies about me! Honesty takes place again for Proctor by not lying that he is a witch. If he said that he was one, he could’ve lived and lived through lie. For him not saying that he is one, he still gets hang for telling the truth and not lying for being a witch. Another way that Proctor could’ve lived and avoid being hanged was to give names and blames other for no reason.”I have three children—how may I teach them to walk like men in the world, and I sold my friends?”(IV.284).
