Amir did not just ruin Hassan’s life, but of his father’s as well. He took away Baba’s opportunity to see his son grow up. Hassan could have been still alive if Amir would have not been selfish. His redemption leads him to be interested in Rahim Khan’s call and his guilt allows him to rescue Sohrab. Amir is now at ease knowing that his bruises he received from Assef and rescuing Sohrab from a dangerous town is sufficient to what he did for his past sins.
