"All right, then, I'll go to hell"- and tore it up." Huck had written a letter to Miss Watson to tell her where Jim was. After giving himself a minute, Huck proved that his relationship meant more to him than any reward or honesty of something that would be likely to hurt Jim more in the long run. He tore up the letter and decided to go on with his plan to help Jim escape to freedom.
The relationship of question started out simply. Huck and Jim spent time together and helped each other out in the ways that they could. Jim became known to Huck as someone who could be trusted and counted on, and who would do what needed to get to where he wanted. More trust blossoms which was unknown in the 1800s, whites could not trust slaves. However, the freedom they shared on the raft enabled them to have a closer relationship than most people could dream
