I believe that Huck was wanting to keep his relaxed lifestyle of smoking and laziness because it gave him the feeling of security that was needed from the abuse and mental hold that his father left on him. When “Pap” or Huck’s father came back into his life there was but no choice to live with him, i think that this event worsened the already damaged spirit that Huck had with all of the drunken rage with the side of violent fits of “licking” Huck. The type of escape huck was seeking was more mental than physical. As day by day goes by the pain that Pap inflicted against Huck left deeper and deeper scars that couldn’t be healed by any standard means.
”He used to always whale me when he was sober and could get his hands on me; though I used to take to the woods most of the time when he was around”. (ch 3, p. 12)
One reason that Huck had urges to run away from Miss. Watson when she took him in was because she had put him back into the environment that he had received all of the pain from, creating urges to run away or rebel against what she was trying to teach …show more content…
This pretty much means that if there is black man and they are cleaning and they stumble upon some money, is there any black person that would not steal it.
This is one example of everyday standard racism that people have in the south. This was also one of the things that Jim was trying to escape when he was apart of slavery. This judgment that people immediately put unto him. Jim was tired of immediately being judged and accused of things that he couldn’t possibly of done.
"Well, I RECKON! There 's two hunderd dollars reward on him. It 's like picking up money out 'n the road." (ch 31.pg 13)This is another prime example of something that Jim was trying to escape. When people saw him out on the street they only saw him as a pay check. Something that people might just be able to get a payday out of because they “returned” him to his rightful owner.
