Family is really important in both 21st century and the 1930s but, family was thought differently. People of the 21st century take family for granted. People don't realize how important family is. People think that family is just company and they are always with you when you’re down. In the 1930s the people thought of family was more than company. In the book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry Mildred D. Taylor shows people the importance of family. One example is after the bus spewed red dust on Little Man it made Stacey furious. So, Stacey planned to take down the school bus. “Up to where the bus forced us off the road. ...Start digging.”(pg. 51). Also “ Now understanding Stacey’s plan, we worked wordlessly until the water lay at the same level at the road”(pg. 52). This shows that in the 1930s family would take revenge on a loved one if something bad ever happened to them. Unlike today if a person did something bad to a loved one we would have a discussion and try to resolve the problem. Another example is even though the Logan Family has nothing to pay Mr. Morrison after, Miz Logan loses her job.
