Theme Of Foreshadowing In Star Wars Return Of The Jedi

Decent Essays
My example of foreshadowing is in the movie Star Wars Return of the Jedi. Luke heads to the planet of Dagobah searching for a wise Jedi master, named Yoda. Yoda trains Luke to become a great and powerful Jedi Knight, but during Luke’s training, Luke gets a vision that Han Solo and Princess Leia are in trouble with the Empire. So Luke tells master Yoda that he has to go save his friends from the empire and that he will come back again to finish his training. Luke starts packing up his things when Yoda and the spirit of Obi Wan Kenobi try to convince Luke to stay and finish his training, and that he they don’t forsure know that Han and Leia are in danger. Obi Wan and Yoda are worried that Luke might turn over to the darkside and that they don’t

An example that demonstrates foreshadowing is on page 3-4 where it says, “He had something pulled over his face, some kind of ski mask, and was holding a long metal baseball bat in both hands, like a murder weapon… He pulled the bat back and up. The movie The Prestige follows an intricate and remarkable story about the rivalry between the two 20th century magicians, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden. Directed by Christopher Nolan, this movie’s story grows from simple acquaintances to taking drastic measures just to one-up each other, and be the better magician. The movie contains many plot twists, the largest of which was that Borden and his ingénieur Fallon were actually twins in disguise. This and some of the other plot twists were heavily foreshadowed in the movie. This is demonstrated in Fallon’s relationship with Jess, Fallon’s importance to Borden, and with some theatrical foreshadowing.…

There is perhaps no greater debated franchise in the history of film than that of George Lucas’ magum opus, The Star Wars saga. With the eighth film in the franchise set to premiere only a week from this essay’s writing (December 8th, 2016) it can be described as nothing less than a mega franchise. The three original films in the series (Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) each had their own massive cultural impact- whether that be due to incredible special effects for the era, the greatest cinematic twist of all time, or a riveting conclusion, each film left a mark and resonated with audiences like so few ever had before. Of course, it is impossible to encapsulate 100% of the population, but the original Star Wars trilogy…

The film star wars episode IV and Paul Kelly’s from St. Kilda to kings cross are both perfect examples of imaginative, inner and physical journeys. A journey can involve many many different experiences for individuals which include emotional and physical changes. A imaginative journey takes us into unreal existence or different worlds. An emotional journey can be self exploration with the ultimate goal or consequence of knowing ones self better and physical journey can involve obstacles and movement to new places. Both texts should definitely be continued to be studied in the unit of journeys for the following years.…

For example, the costumes donned by Romeo and Juliet have heavy foreshadowing and irony. Romeo wore a knight costume – he is the night in shining armour, but it is ironic because he is not a violent, easily angered person. Juliet is wearing an angel costume – however beautiful, pure and holy angels are, they are indisputably linked to death. This foreshadows that even if they are together, violence, death and religion will be key players in their game of fate. Although the actors could have worn these costumes in the original play, the symbolism and irony would not have been as obvious.…
