“By fate we are driven; yield to fate. No anxious cares can change the threads of its inevitable spindle.” In this particular quote taken from the greek play Oedipus,, I feel that there is more than one type of fate. One is inevitable, in example death. Death is a fate that cannot be avoided. The second, is a type of fate that can be escaped from. For example, a robber is brought to court and sentenced to jail for 30 years. During a prison break, he escapes and sneaks on board a cargo ship bound for Bangalore, India. He successfully escapes and starts up a successful clockwork shop. In this scenario, this de facto criminal escaped his fate of 30 years behind the bars. But in this particular quotes case, I presume that this fate falls into the inevitable version of fate side. In this quote, I think that we can substitute death for fate. By death we are driven, yield to death. No anxious cares can change the threads of its inevitable spindle. No amount of worrying can change the fact that you will die. It is inevitable.

We might not be able to escape fate, but we are able to prolong it. We can make use of our thread on the spindle, by not doing unwise things such as smoking and doing drugs which will definitely speed up the unraveling of the thread. Do not waste your time. Make use of the time you have. Steve Jobs said. “You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” We need to experiment. To trust our guts and instincts to move forward in life without worrying about how we can escape from dying. Make use of the thread that is remaining on your
