Desdemona’s kindness is demonstrated through her attempt to regain Cassio his lieutenant status by promising him that “{she} will do all {her} ability in thy behalf” with the use of high modality the loyalty and kindness of Desdemona is portrayed. Through the play Iago takes advantage of Desdemona’s kindness towards Cassio to prove to Othello that Desdemona and Cassio are having an “affair” leaving Desdemona powerless to face death. Desdemona’s naivety caused her death as when Emilia warned her that “Is he not jealous?” due to her gullible and naïve character Desdemona believes that “the sun where he was born drew all such humours from him ” the use of hyperbole demonstrates Desdemona’s trust in Othello and how her naïve and kind heart blinded her judgment resulting in her unfortunate death.
