To start off, the witches’ appearance throughout the scene keeps the play interesting. The first time Macbeth meet witches he was more interested in knowing the prophecies then Banquo was. “Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more. By Sinel’s death I know I am thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The thane of Cawdor lives” ( ) this quotes proves that Macbeth fascinated in knowing more about the prophecies, Because of his ambitiousness of knowing more about his future and listening to prophecies he ended up doing bad things. This is a supernatural incident that is interesting, since it creates a suspense of killing Duncan. The second time, Macbeth suffers hallucination is when he see a ghost of Banque. “Avaunt, and quit my sight! Let the earth hide thee. Thy bones are marrowless, thy blood is cold. Thou hast no speculation in those eyes which thou dost glare with!”( ) Macbeths sees Banquo at the dinner, sitting in front of him and staring at him. In this case, he was the only one able to see the ghost and wanted him to disappear. The ghost of Banquo was making Macbeth uncomfortable, it was making him feel that Banquo wants to take revenge and soon he will be dead. This shows the Macbeth was under pressure of all the activities happening around and was scared of what’s coming next. For the most part, these visions and imagery kept Macbeth into depressed
