The definition of control is the power to influence or direct people's behavior or the course of events. In the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare, Eugeus & Oberon exert too much control over others, causing unexpected or horrible outcomes. Controlling others can result in something bad or unexpected happening.

Eugeus is too controlling of his daughtering, causing her to run away, along with something very unexpected to follow. In the story, Eugeus states that his daughter should be obedient to him when he says “...You’ve connived to steal my daughter’s heart, making her stubborn & harsh instead of obedient (like she should be.).-”(Shakespeare Act 1, Scene 1. 36-38). In the story there are a few examples of fights occurring between them, one is when Oberon Tries to get Titania to give him the Indian boy & another is when they end up seeing each other again. In the story Oberon states “How not nice to see you, Titania”(Shakespeare Act 2, Scene 1. 60-60) Titania responds “...Fairies, let’s get out of here. In this story Oberon gives Robin, or Puck, something to put on Demetrius’s eyes that will make him fall in love with Helena, but Puck mistakes someone else for Demetrius & puts it on them, causing everything to go wrong. Oberon tells Puck to put it on Demetrius’s eyes “...A sweet Athenian lady is in love with a young man who wants nothing to do with her. Put some of this flower’s juice on his eyes, & make sure to do it in such a way the next thing he sees will be the lady….”(Shakespeare Act, 2 Scene 1. 260-263), Robin sees Lysander & Hermia, then mistakes them for Demetrius “...(he sees Lysander & Hermia) Wait a second, who’s this?...This must be the guy who rejected the Athenian girl….
