“Humans with a mind tend to decide what is best for themselves” – Tang (David Tang.com) In Sophocles’ Antigone and Anouilh’s version of the play, rebellion vs conformity is the underlying theme that generates conflict in the play. In both pieces of literature, Antigone’s irrational and illogical portrayal as the protagonist effectively evokes confusing conclusions. Quite often, Antigone is incapable of seeing the mistakes in her actions and decisions.
