Theme Of Catch The Moon By Judith Ortiz Cofer

Falling in love can make you do things that you wouldn’t think of doing normally. Feelings like this can make you question who you are as a person, and what sacrifices you will make for the person you are falling for. After reading “Catch the Moon” By Judith Ortiz Cofer, I saw that her point of the story was love can change a person in a good way, by making the person feel like they can improve their life and make better choices, not only for themselves but the person/people they love. Yet in “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” by W.D. Wetherall his theme is pointing more towards love can make you change into something you’re not for approval and ending with disappointment, regret, and sometimes guilt. Both stories were written around love, but they are different, conflicts, changes, resolutions, and ultimately their themes. …show more content…
In spite of that he manages to overcome the hatred of his father when he meets a girl named Naomi. Meeting Naomi resulted in Luis falling in love. This feeling is a little new to him because he hasn’t felt love since the death of his mother, remembering the feeling of love and his mom makes him want to change the way he acts for the better, because he knows that his mom wants him to be happy. Luis searches all night for a hubcap that Naomi had asked for to show, her and his dad that he is changing for the better. Cofer states that Luis “...waited give her the first good thing he had given anyone in a long time”(pg.240). While reading this quote I see that the hubcap is more than any ordinary hubcap, its a symbol of
