Ender's Game Theme Analysis

Beauty is relative; as to some, it becomes unmeaning and useless. And to others it is meaningful and important. As one says, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder - which is why everyone has to decide for themselves what beauty really is. It can be so different for anybody, as the small garden can mean so much to you, but completely nothing to someone else. In the novel Ender’s Game, the author Orson Scott Card interprets beauty differently than most of us do, as there is a myriad of beauty in compassion, beauty between Ender and Valentine, beauty between war and the games.
Compassion is one theme that is explicitly talked about, throughout Ender’s life. It is the beauty that keeps Ender strong and alive. His ability to understand the enemy, the way no one else does. “In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. It is an abstract concept everyone has to decide for themselves. In the novel Ender’s Game, Orson Scott Card decides to write about different forms of beauty. We can identify this in three main aspects of the novel. Compassion, as it is shown through the protagonist’s traits and feelings. His skill to understand the enemy like no other does, as he truly worships them. Also Ender’s bond to Valentine, as their love for another keeps them strong. His love for her makes him stay in Battle School and makes him fight for her safety. Finally, the beauty throughout the games and the concept of war by the soldiers/children is reflected in the Battle school scenes and their surroundings. True beauty is to win a game and to be the best soldier. Therese three aspects show how the author interprets beauty in the novel Ender’s
