The resentment between the two started centuries ago and has continued eversense. Tybalt shows this when he says “Uncle, this is a Montague, our foe, A villain that is hither come in spite, to scorn at our solemnity this night” (1.5.60-62). Tybalt was saying to Capulet that Romeo and the Montagues are their lifelong enemies and should not have came to the party.Tybalt thought that It was very disrespectful for Romeo and his friends to show up to their party uninvited. Tybalt also thinks that they should not have been prohibited to be at the Capulet celebration, because their families have a strong hatred for each other. Prince told the Capulets and the Montagues that he did not want any more fights or casualties on his street or he will have them banished. The Capulets and Montagues have had a lifelong grudge which in the end lead to his death as well as many others.
In the Shakespearean tragedy, Tybalt is responsible for his own death. His irrational decisions and anger issues cause his need to make disturbances that were forbid to happen again by Prince and start fights, he gets very angry at small things like Romeo talking with his cousin, Juliet, which is probably why he confronted Romeo after he attended the Capulet party in the street. Tybalt and the Capulets have had a lifelong grudge against the Montagues, especially Romeo, the grudge caused many fights
