She also used first person plural when referring to her family and their journey together. I found that the voice of the narrator was full of descriptive words and there were times when the narrator allowed her thoughts to run. Jing-Mei character was sensitive to the feelings of others and also a very wise lady, especially when she insisted that they reveal the truth about her mother’s death. When she first saw them as she walked off the plane, she thinks they look exactly like her mother. Later, she realizes they don’t look at all like their mother, but they still seemed familiar.
