Lauren Oliver's Realistic fiction novel, “Before I Fall” takes place in Ridgeview, Connecticut. Samantha Kingston is living the last day of her live numerous times. Each time she has a horrific accident or someone she knows does. Every day a new event will happen, but… everyday consist of the same thing, going to school, skipping seventh period and going to Kent McFullers party. Samantha tries to change an event every day knowing, it is her last. The theme elevates throughout the book and comes clear to, “Live life to its fullest, and don't regret anything.” From the moment, Samantha died to the moment she woke up seeing “February 12th” on her phone, the description, and detail in the story show Samanthas growing understanding of the moment she keeps reliving. Samantha then looks back at the night she supposedly died and said, “ I know some of you are thinking I deserve it. Maybe I shouldn't have sent that rose to Juliet or dumped my drink on her at the party. Maybe I shouldn't have copied off Lauren Hornets, or said those things to Kent and Juliet.” In that quote, Samantha regrets actions and things she said, but follows up with “ It all happens for a reason and I shouldn't take back anything.”.

Juliet Sykes shot herself leaving a note saying “ We're all hangmen” Samantha and a few other friends, bullied Juliet, sending her valograms saying rude things, having the whole school calling her “psycho” and “mellow yellow”. Causing Juliet's death meant she will still live but, the fourth time she dies she saves Juliet risking her life to save others. Another way she hurts people is when she and Lindsay were going one hundred miles per hour on Route 9 and were swerving lane through, line and hit a car which then jerked abruptly into the ditch, as she looks back on it, she laughs about how stupid they were. Yet she repeats these all actions to show she's not regretting
