In the City of Bones it is all about a girl character named Clary Fray who thinks her life is completely normal and ordinary. However, one night when she is out with her best friend Simon she encounters something that is anything but normal. She sees demons and people called shadowhunters which she later finds out is what she and her mother are. Her life goes from completely ordinary and boring to overwhelmingly crazy. As she is fighting for her life and struggling to find her mother after she is kidnapped by the most evil shadowhunter, she encounters many obstacles and even starts to fall in love.

Some authors just throw in big words in their work to make it of a higher level of reading but with Cassandra Clare her word choice just flows in with the story. Her diction and explanations of things help the reader to better understand the things she wants them to picture. Throughout the whole book everything is described in such detail it almost feels as if your there in the story and not just on the sofa turning pages. Now to the dislike side there is not much since she is such a fabulous author but if I had to really pick something it would be her cliffhangers. At the end of many chapters in this book the author leaves you at the edge of your seat waiting for what is going to happen next. Then at the start of the next chapter it is talking about something entirely different in the story leaving you to guess what had previously happened. Out of all the things about the authors writing this is my one dislike about her writing
