Fahrenheit 451- Theme Analysis Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is full of themes, but one major theme occurring in the book is censorship. Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. In the story the main character, Guy Montag, is a fireman ordered to burn all buildings that housed books in them. The government allows this to happen because a society that doesn’t read is a society that doesn’t think, therefore being easier to control. The government wants them to forget and abandon the books.
