Character Analysis: Thelma And Louise

Thelma and Louise is about two best friends who end up on a crazy road trip. Both women trying to get away from their lives start driving to go fishing. Thelma is stuck as a housewife with a husband who seems uncaring and Louise is a waitress. There first stop at a bar however leads to the downfall of the trip. While at the bar Thelma has a few drinks and dances with a man. The man and her head out to the parking lot where the man pins her up against a car and attempts to rape her. Before he can rape her though Louise heads out to the parking lot and puts a gun to his head so he would stop. She gets Thelma away from him but the man kept testing the women and it leads to Louise shooting him. Thelma still feeling guilty for getting the money stolen remembers some of the robbery tips JD had taught her. Thelma knowing they need cash robs a store at gunpoint. Louise having several conversations with the police begin to have a connection with him. He starts feeling sympathy for the girls and promises to help them but they would have to surrender. Not willing to surrender they continue their journey. When stopped by an officer they lock him in he 's trunk steal he 's gun and toss the keys. After that they encounter a truck driver who they have seen several times who would honk at them and make inappropriate gestures. To lure him in they pull over at a gas station where they ask for an apology. Not receiving one Louise shoots the truck still not apologizing Thelma joins in and they blow up the truck. By the Grand Canyon the police have caught up to them and they are finally surrounded. Not wanting to go to jail now they decide to keep going and drive over the cliff. Hal the cop Louise had been talking to tries to stop them but he is unsuccessful. Louise and Thelma kiss and Louise hits the accelerator and the end scene is the car driving off the cliff in the
