The film did a great job of using men like Joe as a husband by showing how men like him in the 1930’s and men in today’s world felt the typical role of a women was to be obedient and be object of the male possession. However, the film at the end illustrates how significant it is for a women to refuse to be silenced anymore by a men and be treated as equally as the men (Black). Furthermore, the film does a great job of showing that God does speak to both men and women equally as soon as Janie learns that how strong and capable she is she realized that she is ready to fight for equality and life freedom just like many women fighting for freedom and equality
