Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurston: Character Analysis

In the novel Their eyes were watching god by Zora Neale Hurston the story of a woman Janie is told from her narrative of how her self journey to happiness and mental freedom is unfolded. The main character of the novel goes through about 3 relationships with 3 different men. But these relationships can be viewed as just a women trying to find the right man and finally get love right. There’s more to these relationships and the events that take place in between all three relationships. Yes she was not respected by Logan but in a sense of she was not doing anything more wrong than what Logan was doing to her. Getting revenge or disrespecting your partner will not help you in the long run with love.
The Relationship with Jody took place after Janie ended her previous relationship. Janie starts to develop a liking for jody for what she seen in him as person, for what he has that can help her grow as a person a sense of motivation to be a free soul and to follow her dreams. Janie sort dives into this relationship blind as she believes she doesn’t know what to expect out of Jody and she quite frequently doesn’t see what she will offer as well.
