Thorough my high school career I’ve been in seven shows. The first show I participated in was 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse freshman year back in Andover. Early in the process I knew that I wanted to direct a one act senior year; two years later and nothing has changed. I decided to audition after seeing my friends in Pippin that fall. The show was incredible, and I instantly knew that this was something I wanted to be a part of.

Being able to see both of those shows done twice at two different schools was a unique experience that most people never go through. Especially with 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, I’ve gained a unique and different perspective from seeing the same script become to very different

Out of the seven shows I’ve been in I was and actor in three and tech for four. Having taken part in both acting and tech over the years, I can easily work with actors well but also understand what tech is doing and work together to create the best show possible, giving me a perspective different than that of previous directors. As for theatre classes, I’m currently in my second semester of acting and will be taking it again next year. Before moving here last winter, I was in a general theatre class at my previous school. The advantage of that class was that we were able to learn everything: history, acting, scenic design, writing, lighting, costuming, and so much more.

Nothing has changed since I first decided I wanted to be a director two and a half years ago. My knowledge and experience in every aspect of theatre sets me apart from most. Directing would be an enriching and valuable experience that I’d cherish forever. The experience I had with one-acts and the directors freshman year was truly life-changing. It’s why I’m still doing theatre and why I want to be a director. It’s changed my life more than I could explain in words. I would like to be that person for someone else, because one show can change their life as it changed
