Theatre Review Of Esther's Follies

Theatre is a great way to seek entertainment. Although theatre has many forms of art not many people know about them. As I learn more and more about the many arts of theatre I become more intrigued to explore every theatrical performance possibly out there. My latest experience of theatre was in Austin, Texas. I got the opportunity to attend the Esther’s Follies, a modern day vaudeville theatre. Some quick words to describe this fast pace performance is; colorful, magical, and filled multiple talents such as dancing and singing. The building is located on the corner of the very famous 6th street in Austin, Texas. At first glance it looks like a sole magician place. The outside of the building is bright and colorful. The letter …show more content…
As the lights go off and on the show commences. It begins with a wonderful dancing and singing act. As it continues it is able to incorporate many different acts. In this hour and a half the show is able to incorporate magic tricks, juggling, dancing, singing as well as sketches on the latest current events with a comedy theme. Everything is based solely on comedy and getting the audience laughing until the end. The current events being discussed had a focus on politics, using the current presidential election as theme. Thus far the best part of the show is the interaction incorporated with not just the audience but random people walking on the street. They are able to do this due to the open window on the back of the stage. They also call volunteers on the stage by that is more of forced to the stage in a fun way. This show was by far one of the best entertainment experiences I have experienced. Humor as the center of dancing, singing, juggling and current world events is what gives such high success to this performance. The only con of this whole performance was the slight uncomfortable setting, as they were hard wood chairs, nevertheless the laughs being brought out made the uncomfortable seating non existent. Therefore if you ever find yourself wondering the streets of Austin, Texas you wont want to miss a magical performance in Esther’s

As the curtains went up, the audience was present with a metal structure that was the bottom of the Eiffel tower. This beautiful metal structure made me only excited to see what the rest of the sets would look like. The lighting right off the bat was extremely elegant, being that the majority of the lights had a shade of purple. This set the feel of the Parisian world that the audience would be taken on. Before I saw the show, I imagined the stage being much bigger than it actually was in reality.…

The play was a five-course dinner and a three-hour show all at the same time. This beautifully synchronized show Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction is performed at Dolly Parton’s Stadium in downtown Branson MO. At first glance, I was amazed by how clean and organized the whole building was.…

    Book Of Esther Essay

The book of Esther has a more profound meaning than that of a young girl who becomes queen. The story shows a brave young girl who is willing to sacrifice her life to save her people, from what seems an inevitable genocide. As a result of the book of Esther’s complexity I will use summary, irony, and compare and contrast to further understand the selection of Esther (Esther 2:1-18) and the ruin of Haman as Mordecai rises to power (Esther 6:1-13). Aside from the three tools I will be using, the 3 world mythology is also significant in trying to understand the two scenes in the book of Esther. The significant of both scenes and of the rest of the book of Esther lies in the belief that God has a purpose as well as his presence in our everyday…

Examining the courageous and extraordinary women in the Bible such as Ruth, Naomi, Sarah, Deborah, and Esther, but one woman particularly stands out, Esther. Despite her exquisite beauty; Esther was a brave, intelligent and loyal young woman, who put her own life at risk to save her people from annihilation by a spiteful and selfish Haman, who had a personal agenda. The book of Esther is an incredibly unique book which provides no mention of God whatsoever, but it doesn't mean that God has no sovereignty in Esther’s life. For this reason, I find Esther a fascinating character because she is the story and takes center stage. In Esther's life, we notice how she evolves from a passive young woman to an influential queen that changed the destiny…

The spectacle includes the sets, costumes, and lights. I believe the set did a great job of reinforcing the plot of the play while also not distracting the audience. I liked the director’s use of a transparent door to allow the audience to still clearly see what was going on. Also, the bright and mismatched vibrant colors in the apartment showed the potential age of the apartment decorations. The costumes also did a very good job of showing the social status of each of the characters as well as what time period the play is set in.…

The Takarazuka Revue has been performing various Western musicals and dramas as well as adaptations of Japanese shoujo manga since it started doing performances back in 1914. The Takarazuka has since been an important symbol of women’s strength as the traditional gender roles are challenged and draws a majority female audience. The first performance I attended was Hairspray, this took place at North Central College at the Red Horse Theatre which my friend invited me to see with her. Overall this performance was very organized and the tempo sustainability was upbeat throughout the entire time. I was very impressed how drawn the audience was and how there was never a dull moment.
