Theatre has been around for thousands of years and began in Greece. The main purpose of theatre is to tell a story with either an actor or actress crying their eyes out or with someone singing. Being involved with theatre has many benefits, especially for introverts, which are people who are shy or someone who tends to be more concerned with their own thoughts and feelings rather than others. Somethings introverts benefit from being in theatre is that they learn how to express themselves, they can communicate better with people, and it helps them feel accepted in the world. Since introverts are shy, being involved with theatre helps them with communicating with others. Acting onstage teaches introverts how to speak in front of a large audience and to grow confident in front of anyone (Catron). Being in theatre can help someone become confident, so they could be ready for an interview. It allows for someone to be confident in what they say and they say it; even if they did not know what they were doing they could always just fake it until they make it, which is a huge factor of acting. Speaking in front of people or talking to people in general is one of the hardest things for me, and I do not really have friends because of that. My experience with being involved with theatre has allowed me to be able to talk to new people and to make friends. Theatre allows introverts to feel acceptance because in theatre the other people do not care what someone believes in or what they do outside of the show that they are working on. There are many different types of people in theatre, for example the star of Heathers, the musical, Barrett Wilbert Weed. She was bullied during high school because she was taller than the other girls. Barrett Wilbert Weed got a main role in an off broadway show, that is popular. The star of Dear Evan Hansen, Ben Platt, got picked on in school for being jewish. Also, Andrew Rannels, the star of the Book of Mormon, was picked on for being gay. A person example that I have is that Ryan, my closest friend, and I do not agree on everything. It could be the fact that we believe in different things, but we have learned how to just deal with each other. We both tolerate what the other believes in. Being involved in theatre has helped me with feeling accepted and accepting others in the world. With introverts being involved in theatre it helps them feel accepted in the
