Theatre Arts Proposal Essay

Dr. Williams,
Thank-you for the support you have given the Theatre Arts program over the past 3 years. As we continue to grow, I believe the schedule outlined below will permit more students to participate in the productions, particularly those involved in other related arts classes and athletics. While it won’t cut out on after school rehearsals completely, my plan is to reserve either after school and/or before school rehearsals for select solo, small group or choreography work Additionally scheduling the big school musical between winter and spring sports seasons, or after the spring season concludes, will provide the opportunity to have the necessary 2 hour tech and dress rehearsals. I spoke with Coach Werts who said there is about a 3 week period of time between winter and spring sports where there are no athletic practices.

I would like the opportunity to identify these students as potential enrollees at an audition/workshop similar to how the ST-ARTS program participants are identified. It’s fun and non-intimidating due to the workshop type atmosphere.

Rising 7th graders – (students who have been identified in class, auditioned for Grease and were either selected or strongly considered) I obviously need some more students here but haven’t been able to adequately evaluate this last nine weeks group of students. I also feel I can add to this list via the audition workshop. I would like to offer the workshop and begin announcing the opportunity as soon as possible since we just finished our school wide musical and it’s seemed to generate a lot of interest from

“Chicago,” I said, as we drove past the Chicago Theatre. I read every word that my eyes could catch as we sped down the attractive streets of downtown Chicago. I was not sure where my driver was taking me, but I knew that I did not want to be in the car with this mean old woman anymore. She was my new caseworker, Ms. Jordan, and she was in charge of finding me a family. My old caseworker was Ms. Kelly, she was nice and she always made me feel loved.…

Today, she and Rockower are colleagues at Delta Middle School, where Mueller teaches music and theatre. Unlike most schools, including those within the district, Delta Middle offers a curricular theatre program. “We are very fortunate,” said Mueller.…

Why Students Should be Involved in Performing Arts Classes Imagine, being on a stage with the brightest lights cascading only on you. All you can think about what mistakes you’ve made and which mistakes are bound to happen. If only you took that Performing Arts course when you were younger.…

I am honored to be considered a possible future member of our high school’s National Honors Society. I do my best to commit myself to becoming someone extraordinary. Back in middle school, I was a satisfied member of the National Junior Honors Society, and I would like to feel the same about NHS. I remember knowing how to be a leader with great character, being proud of my citizenship, and serving the community. I still have these qualities today, and, as a member of NHS, I could definitely improve each of these qualities.…

Initially I started this assignment by carefully reviewing over the worksheet given to me before the in-class assignment. The assignment was to create a scene with “silent tension” and to incorporate several elements such as a moment of pause. Even though I might not have to direct the scene, I started to think in a sense of how a director might approach this assignment and create a scene. I started to reference the “dead theatre” essay written by Peter Brook. I wanted to create a scene that the audience could emotionally and spiritually relate to.…

What is an artist? The definition of an artist is different to everyone. To some, the word artist is taken as its literal meaning: someone who, quite simply, practices a creative profession. Others see it as a person who uses their creative energy and unleashes it for others to enjoy. To me, the true artist is someone who is able to control their creativity and use it to contribute to the greater good.…

Changing Through Positivity The best thing to do after a negative event is to keep a positive mindset. Being positive can make the situation easier to cope with and can allow you to move on with life. Sometimes, it might be able to flip the situation around in the real world, as it did with my Junior Districts audition. It was late fall of 8th grade when Mr. Wright explained that Junior Districts was a program that had 7th through 9th graders audition to participate in an advanced band, orchestra, or jazz band.…

Theater Final Reflection While I was in eighth grade and picking classes for my freshman year, I decided to take theater 1 since I had performed in almost every play, musical, and public speaking event offered at the middle school. I had enjoyed these activities, but I understood that due to my dance schedule and homework load with AP and honors classes, I would not have time to continue these performances with the school. Since I had enjoyed participating in these performances, I still wanted to be able to take part in theater in some way. I decided to take theater 1 since I had thought that it could be a fun way to still experience theater without having to add to my already busy schedule.…

A rising art form in popular culture today is none other than the American musical theatre. An array of factors have emerged and collided over the past decade to bring what was once a niche staple of American culture to the forefront of the media and culture around the world. Stage and film acting both require a well-stocked tool box of techniques, but they differ in several significant ways. Here are a few key areas. Sequence and Arc Screen acting schools often stress to incoming students that screen and stage acting differ in a variety of ways -- and one of the first points may be that the way an actor experience known as character arc is different in the two media. Character arc refers to where a particular character is mentally and emotionally in the story at a given point. S/he typically changes in some way throughout the story, and on stage and screen, the audience sees this unfold chronologically, but films are shot out of sequence.…
