Only in the arts does one obtain the ability to both find themselves and loose themselves simultaneously.
For the performer, energising, exhilarating, a chance to become someone or something else, to become your alter ego, to charm, dazzle and delight audiences, and for the spectator, an intriguing and entertaining experience of the demonstration of human life, their wildest dreams or scariest nightmares
Theatre and performing arts have always been a huge part of my life since a very young age, and with both a mother and father as dance teachers, there was never any doubt that this would be the area I would grow to love and choose to pursue at university. My parents have always been a huge inspiration to me, and as I grew up I realised I had inherited a natural talent for performing arts from them, and unsurprisingly, for dance in particular.
I regularly attend dance classes, completing my IDTA medals in freestyle, and progressing with the same aim of completion in both Ballroom and Latin. I also attend regular classes in contemporary and have become a choreographer

I believe challenging oneself is instrumental to achieving success in life, even the small things carry large impact; reaching those high notes, perfecting that pirouette, or nailing that northern accent. I have always strived for success; that’s just my nature, so I hope choosing this course is just the next step upwards.
Reviewing the range of performing arts courses on offer gave me an insight into which will give me the best opportunities to allow me to peruse my career ambition; teaching a performing course myself, or being on a west end stage. Failure is the act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful. When someone fails at something it often makes them feel discouraged or apprehensive, but I have learned to look at failure differently. Failure to me is an opportunity. I have attended SCPA for nine years now, and before I came to SCPA, I went to Schiel. At Schiel you had the luxury of participating in multiple arts.…

I stood there with sheer terror, wondering how the director thought of me, unsure if my talent and artistic choices would meet the standards. Suddenly, everything I had rehearsed hid somewhere out of reach and my mind frantically searched for the answers. “What are the next words?” “How am I supposed to be acting?”…

As technology advances, and becomes a greater part of society, it can often seem like the fine arts are losing their place in the technological world. More and more people are choosing to watch movies or T.V. shows instead of experiencing dance, theatre, or choral performances. However, I would argue that fine arts performances are every bit as important today as they were when they first began. These performances are there to entertain, challenge ideals, or allow for escape. For example, even if you don’t know the slightest thing about Ballet, you can still attend one to escape for a few hours into the story unfolding on stage.…

When I first came to Full Sail I started off as a recording arts student, I honestly did not know exactly everything that was involved into recording arts itself, however, I knew that I wanted to be able to record and mix, I am also a musician, which, might have also been another reason why I felt so interested in recording arts at the beginning. After my sixth or seventh month in my degree, I started to question myself and think a lot more precise about what I wanted to do after I graduate and also trying to find the specific field in which my passion was truly involved. During this time, I was already taking my first show production overview type of classes, in which I was already being introduced to a whole different world with a large…

I found it showed my talents, where it seemed like I had not any other place. It seemed to become close to the point of an obsession, as I would lose myself in the rhythm of the music. All the hours put in dance were not in vain, however; rather, for every minute put in, became twice as good as before. My dance instructor noticed my talent and I was offered to be a part of the prestigious performance team. I felt the rush of energy shooting up as I considered the opportunity, only to have it quickly brought down, by a yearning in my heart for something even greater- even more than dance.…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

My interest in theatre dates back to middle school. At the time theatre seemed abstract and out of my comfort zone, because it was. However, I soon saw that being out of my comfort zone is empowering, and being abstract allows theatre to bring the world together, just like American Institute for Foreign Study. Throughout high school I continued to be involved in theatre for those reasons, and still enjoy writing plays.…

In dance, you learn quickly that without pure dedication and drive you will never be successful. While talent can come naturally, skill and technique only come with hard work. I spent countless hours in dance studios growing up, working tirelessly to hone these skills and perfect technique. A lifetime of dance taught me what it means to have discipline and dedication to a craft, values which I have also seen reflected in my clinical experiences. Medicine is a practice which calls for just as much discipline, dedication, and drive.…

A rising art form in popular culture today is none other than the American musical theatre. An array of factors have emerged and collided over the past decade to bring what was once a niche staple of American culture to the forefront of the media and culture around the world. The sum of an evolving variety of music genres within the form, an increased interest and engagement by A and B list celebrities, an increasingly globalized Western culture, among other influences have allowed for the growth and current peak prosperity of the musical theatre genre across many platforms and international lines.
