According to NEAVS—an anti-vivisection society—, animals can be exposed to many brutalities such as the following: “testing new drugs to infecting with diseases, poisoning for toxicity testing, burning skin, causing brain damage, implanting electrodes into the brain, maiming, blinding, and other painful and invasive procedures” (“Harm and Suffering”). Animals have pain sensors and are able to experience just as much distress as we do, but cannot express it. Plus, companies are still able to undergo tests without the help of animal testing. Human cells and computer mechanisms can be used as replacements in place of torturing the many animals that researchers experiment on. Nonetheless, I will do everything in my power to enable animals to live a stress-and-harm-free life, such as: buy products that aren’t tested on animals, inform people about the ‘Three R’s’ of animal testing, and donating either cells from my body or money to the cause.
