Goal 1
Students will develop the necessary skills to be academically successful and will understand the role of scholarship in the University and in larger society.
Objective 1A Response: I have achieved the goal of writing a scholarly paper and researching a project in multiple classes. Besides writing papers in GEP, I ha ha to write a few philosophical papers in religion. The main points, in that paper specifically, was comparing the contrasting ideas of what is Freud, Tillich, Otto, and Karl Marx’s theory of what religion is and how it affects the human race. I really enjoyed writing this paper and overall it was a very interesting topic to learn about. In GEP, we wrote many response papers to the book we were reading, “Enrique 's Journey” by Sonia Nazario. The questions that were asked really required us to think beyond Enrique 's Journey, and it made the story more personal to us.

Understanding other peoples perspective, and traditions help you understand their character better. Taking classes like psychology or religion, for me especially, helped my understand the human mind better, and appreciate people for their faults, and it just opens a new understanding as a whole. I think everyone should be required to take a religion class or an ethics class, because you can 't be successful in the world if you 're ignorant to world culture. Understanding why people think the way they do helps the community become more of a community, and i think we would have less problems in the world if we become more
