Personal Narrative: My Mom's Expedition

Her Expedition

I remember the day my mom left like it was just yesterday. It was dark outside; the sun was just starting to rise.
“Get up,” Mom said, “we have to run a little errand.”
It was about five in the morning. I looked outside the barred window, which was like that because those windows were way too easy to open and my grandma said we could never be too cautious. I saw our neighbor, Patty, already up, sweeping outside of her house. It seemed like everyone in Guanajuato was a morning person. After my mom had left my room, my sister and I got up to get dressed. We had only been in Guanajuato, Mexico for two months but by now we had figured out that it was cold in the morning and got hot throughout the day. We grabbed a hoodie

“You’ll find out where we’re going later.”
In Guanajuato everyone knows each other. Erika was my aunt’s best friend. She owns a store in the little town we lived in. The store wasn’t the biggest. I’d say it’s the size of a small bedroom, but it was three minutes away from my grandma’s house. It always had the things we needed, so that’s where we went.
“Hey guys. Why are the little ones up so early?” Erika had to prettiest curly hair that seemed to always be bouncy and shiny. She turned around to get something, her hair bouncing and moving as she did. “I don’t really see you around here at this time.” She said. My mom was looking around and grabbing things like bags of chips, juice boxes, water and fruit.
“We’re going on a trip.” Mom told her. Norely and I looked at each other confused. Why would be going on a trip. How come she didn’t mention this to us before? As confused as we were, we didn’t say anything.
“Oh really,” Erika said in a cheery voice. “Where to?” Mom looked at us concerned. She pulled Erika to the side and told us to wait for her outside. We did as told and waited for my mom outside the little store.
On the way home I asked my mom where we were going. “We’re going back to

A big, bald, scary man walks in asking for my mom. When he sees her, her walks over to her.
“Get your things. We’re leaving.” Mom gets up slowly, walks over to her bag and picks it up. Once her things are in her hands, she comes over to the bed where my sister and I are sitting.
“Everything’s gonna be okay, I promise.”
She leans down and gives both of us a kiss on the cheek. “I’ll see you guys soon.” Mom walks to the door, gives us one last look and shuts it.
After my mom left, my sister and I didn’t feel like playing games anymore. We both lied down on the queen size bed and stared at the ceiling. Norely fell asleep, but even though I wanted to, I couldn’t sleep. I was looking at the plain white wall when I heard a soft knock at the door. The small yellow house didn’t have any windows so I couldn’t look out to see who it was. I woke grandma up.
“There’s someone at the door.” I said. Half asleep, grandma got up and opened the door. I saw my uncle, Chava, standing there and looking around.
“Let’s go home.” He said. I had no idea why he was there or why he was taking us with him, but I didn’t care because I wanted to leave that shed we got locked
