• The Zealots were more of a nationalistic movement than one of religion;
• They were committed to the overthrow of the Roman rule (acts 21:28 NIV);
• Known mostly for their defense of Masada; then committing mass suicide rather than surrender to the Romans (NSW Board of Education, 2012).
The Scribes Most likely the first Jewish scribes emerged during the Babylonian captivity. At first, they were professional copyists of the law. This gave them the opportunity to learn about the scriptures. From that point, they developed into teachers and interpreters of the law.
