Throughout their experience she saves a irreplaceable friend and he creates a better life for himself. Then she puts her family first and does what's best for them, and he brings himself great pain while trying to achieve a life long goal. Finally, they find a way to prove the doubters wrong through their determination for others and themselves. Their determination is a large part of who these characters are. Without their determination I would not think of them as Mare or Keevan because that is who they are, they are determined. Not only does their determination play a big part in their life, but I feel that it plays a big part in our life as well. Many people in the world use their determination to create a better life for their family or themselves. One example of this is getting a job. Getting a job requires lots of work which is done through determination. The only reason people get jobs is to make life better, so many people can relate to both Mare and Keevan.
