Two Yellowhammer birds stay perched upon their nest. The nest feels dry and crisp under their talons being that it is made of torn up and picked grass. Slowly the nest is turning a brownish color as the grass brittles and dies. The smell of dying grass and the chirping of nearby birds doesn’t seem to bother the two, as one bird appears to have his eyes closed. Their brown and yellow feathers glistens in the warm summer sun. The yellowhammer with his eyes closed hangs from the outside of the nest and relaxes. The other bird; however, is perched inside of the nest, alert and ready.
